Chapters are established to help promote the interests
and welfare of Mesa State College and it's alumni through
association of like-minded alumni. These subgroups of the
Alumni Association facilitate individuals accomplishing goals
that are important to them.
Each chapter has an advisory board consisting of alumni,
faculty and students that guide the groups efforts and activities.
The group then has control over a portion of their affiliated
member's dues to help accomplish their goals.
Well informed, active alumni are vital to the growth and
excellence of the College. Alumni chapters can benefit alumni
and the College in a variety of ways:
PUBLIC RELATIONS
The image of Mesa State College in the minds of alumni, families
and communities can be enhanced through strong alumni chapters.
The media recognition that chapters are often given helps
strengthen the image of the College.
LINK TO ALUMNI
Alumni chapters provide alumni with an opportunity to participate
in Mesa State College through means of an organized structure.
Chapters plan activities for alumni in their regions and assist
in keeping communication links open.
CAREER NETWORKING & ASSISTANCE
Alumni who are established in their careers and corporations
can provide other alumni with guidance and support in their
career growth. Alumni can also provide students with externships
and other valuable benefits from their experiences.
STUDENT RECRUITING
Chapters support Mesa State College when they get involved
in student recruitment. Alumni can help identify top prospects
in their region and attract them to campus. Alumni can also
represent Mesa State College at College Fairs.
SOCIAL NETWORK
Alumni provide a social framework for alumni. The Maverick
experience is enough to provide a common bond from which friendships
develop.
SUPPORT OF MSC IN A SPECIFIC AREA
Because of the satisfaction it produces, involvement in alumni
chapters often results in financial commitment to the College.
SUPPORT FOR HIGHER EDUCATION
By creating a favorable climate for higher education, alumni
chapters help encourage advocacy for higher education and
can influence critical life decisions.
