Nursing Network

Successful nursing alumni are important to creating alumni support
for the MSC Nursing Program. Mentoring can help new nurses be successful
in their careers. The mission of the MSC Alumni Association's Nursing
Network is to develop alumni support by fostering relationships
between alumni, faculty and students. It will accomplish this by
providing useful opportunities for networking and encouraging alumni
to serve as mentors.
Mannequins Needed for Nursing Students
With the increase in students admitted each semester, the
learning lab is in need of additional mannequins for students
to practice the clinical nursing skills. Mannequins are now
designed with heart/lung/bowel sounds, blood pressure training,
and many interchangeable parts, making them a good investment
for use in practicing nursing procedures at all levels of
the nursing program. According to Kristy Reuss, chair, department
of nursing and radiological sciences, "These mannequins
cost $6,576 each, and our 'wish list' includes two of these
'new generation' mannequins." Contact Kristy
Reuss to find out more about how you can contribute.

"Nursing alumni provide an essential component
to the nursing program by serving as role models, preceptors and
adjunct faculty. Serving in these capacities is a great way to continue
your professional growth and development and enhance your career
portfolio."
Judy L. Goodhart, MSN, RN
Professor of Nursing
The nursing program at Mesa State College builds
a strong sense of comradery among nurses that are its graduates.
The alumni chapter for nursing gives us the opportunity to continue
these networks and, thereby, improve the quality of the our ongoing
professional experiences.
