Carma and Hogue Sweep RMAC Player of the Week Honors

Mesa
State's Chris Carma (Jr., LHP, 5'10, Salinas, CA) and Kyle
Hogue (Sr., 3B, 6'2, Loveland, CO) were named Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference Pitcher and Player of the Week respectively
for their outstanding performance in the Mavericks four game sweep
at CSU-Pueblo.
Carma
started out the series on the mound Thursday night pitching seven
shutout innings while striking out eight ThunderWolve batters. He
allowed six hits in picking up his fourth victory (4-2) of the year.
He is second on the team in innings pitched (37.2) and has a team
high 40 strikeouts and a earned run average of 2.63. Carma
has allowed only 12 runs (11 earned) this year.
Teammate
Kyle Hogue was selected Player of the Week after registering
a team high 10 hits and 13 runs batted in. He had at least two hits,
two RBI and an extra base hit in each game. Hogue hit a home run
in each of the first three games and finished the weekend hitting
.556.
Hogue
has started all 27 games he has played and is hitting .415 for the
year with a team high 10 home runs. He ranks second in runs (34)
and runs batted in (33). His slugging percentage this year is .872.
MSC
will host Neb.-Kearney in a four game series beginning Friday at
7 p.m. at Suplizio Field.
