Close out Three Game Series at #4 Chico State with Victory
Game One: 5-8, Game Two: 4-9, Game Three: 7-1)

State baseball won game three of a three game series at #4 Chico
State Saturday afternoon defeating the Wildcats 7-1, out hitting
Chico 12-2.
In
game one Friday afternoon Chico scored five runs in the second inning
and two in the third and held a 7-0 lead until the fifth inning.
MSC scored a run in the fifth on a single by Mike Provencher.
A run in the sixth, two runs in the eighth on a double by Andrew
Martinez and one run in the ninth. Chico's eighth run came in
their bottom half of the seventh.
MSC
starter Brent Lamaster took the loss allowing 7 runs on 7
hits in two innings of work .
Game
one of Saturday's doubleheader saw Chico take a 8-0 lead in to the
eighth inning when MSC scored one run on a sacrifice fly by Curtis
Englehart. MSC scored three in the ninth on doubles by Blake
Carlquist and Mike Provencher. Chico scored their final
run in the eighth.
Starter
Chris Carma went 5 2/3 inning for the Mavs allowing five
runs on eight hits.
The
series finale was a 7-1 win for MSC and snapped a five game losing
streak. MSC pounded out 12 hits with pitchers Jack Amidei (2-0)
picking up his second win of the season and Kevin Chritz his
first save of the year.
Justin
Little was 3-for-4 from the plate with one RBI and two runs
scored. Mike Provencher, Curtis Englehart and Blake
Carlquist had two hits each and a combined four RBI. Chandler
Herdt hit his team leading third homerun of the season in the
sixth.
The
planned four game series was scheduled to be played in Grand Junction
but due to inclement weather and field conditions the team traveled
to Chico State for a three game series.
MSC
will open at home this weekend against the University of New Haven.
The four game series begins Friday at Suplizio Field at 3 pm.
