Mavericks Sweep ThunderWolves - Outscore CSU-P, 56-22
(Game One: 19-1, Game Two: 14-4, Game Three: 19-15, Game Four: 4-2)

Mesa State improved to 21-10 overall and 12-4 in conference action following a weekend sweep at CSU-Pueblo. MSC outscored the T-Wolves 56-22 and registered 67 hits in the four game series.

Game one Thursday evening MSC jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning on a leadoff triple by Andrew Martinez. MSC as least one run in six on the nine innings, including seven runs in the ninth. MSC held the ThunderWolves scoreless until the eighth inning. CSU-P had seven hits in the game and committed seven errors.

Five MSC players had multiple hits in the game, led by Mike Provencher's 4-for-7 and Kyle Hogue's 3-for-6 from the plate. Hogue had three RBI and scored four runs. Starter Chris Carma pitched seven scoreless innings, striking out eight batters and allowing six hits. Jason Fronczak allowed one run on one hit in two innings of work.

MSC started Friday's doubleheader scoring five runs in the first on the way to a 14-4 victory. Seven MSC players had double digit hits including three hits each from Provencher and Hogue. The two combined for six hits, five RBI and six runs scored. Starter T.J. Butch (3-0) pitched five innings and allowed four runs on six hits. T.J. Stastny allowed four hits in 2.0 innings of work.

Game two of the doubleheader had the Mavericks scoring eight runs in the first, six in the third, one in the fourth and four in the sixth for 19 runs on 24 hits. CSU-P scored 15 runs on 18 hits. MSC hit three homeruns in the game and had eight players with at least two hits each. Andrew Martinez and Chandler Herdt led all players with four hits each. Josh Ogden was credited with his first victory of the season.

The series finale on Saturday resulted in a 4-2 victory. MSC scored three runs in the first inning and one in the third. Freddie Hampe went 7.0 innings for the victory. Brent Lamaster picked up his second save of the year going 1.2 inning. Matt Miller and Hogue had two hits each.

MSC will host Neb.-Kearney this weekend at Suplizio Field. The four game series will start Friday night at 7 pm.
