Sweep Series at Colorado Mines
(Game One: 14-2, Game Two: 7-5, Game Three: 14-0,

State baseball swept the four game series at Colorado Mines this
weekend.
MSC's Chris Carma got the team off to a great start in game
one of the series Friday night in Golden. Carma recorded
an MSC record 15 strikeouts in a complete victory over the Orediggers.
He allowed two runs on eight hits and walked one batter. Offensively
MSC recorded 14 runs on 15 hits, jumping out to a 3-0 lead after
the first inning. Kyle Hogue was 4 for 5 from the plate with
four runs and five RBI. Hogue hit two homeruns in the game.
Curtis Englehart and Mike Provencher had three hits
each and a combined four RBI and five runs.
MSC
swept the Orediggers in Saturday's doubleheader winning game one
7-5 and shutting out Mines 14-0 in game two.
Andrew Martinez went 3 for 3 with three runs scored and one
RBI. Hogue and Grant Vickers had two hits each including
a homerun by Hogue, his 13th of the year. Starting pitcher
T.J. Butch (4-0) picked up his fourth victory of the season
allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits in 5.0 innings. Kevin
Chritz picked up the save.
In game two MSC scored 12 runs in the first three innings eventually
scoring 14 runs on 19 hits. Starter Jason Enewold and reliever
Jason Fronczak combined for the shutout. Enewold allowed
three hits in five innings (seven strikeouts) and Fronczak
gave up two hits in two innings of work .
Curtis Englehart went 4 for 4, with a homerun, four runs
scored and four RBI. Martinez went 4 for 6, and designated
hitter, Matt Miller finished with three hits, three RBI and
one run scored.
MSC closed out the four game series Sunday with a 21-11 win. MSC
pounded out 29 hits with nine Mavericks registering at least two
hits each. Steve Moralez went 5 for 5, including two doubles,
a triple, seven RBI and two runs scored. Matt Miller finished
with five hits (5-6). Andrew Martinez, Grant Vickers
and Blake Carlquist had three hits each.
T.
J. Stastny earned his first victory of the year coming on in
relief in the middle of the fourth inning. Stastny pitched
3.1 inning, allowing two runs on three hits, walking three and striking
out three.
MSC
will host Regis University in a four game series beginning Friday
night. Friday's game is American Cancer Society Relay for Life Night.
Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
