Provencher Named RMAC Player of the Week

Mike Provencher 5'10, Shortstop, El Paso, Tex.) was named
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year. It is the
second time this season Provencher has been honored as Player of
the Week.
Provencher hit .500 in a four game home sweep against Metro
State. The sweep earned the Mavericks their fourth consecutive RMAC
regular season title and the right to host the RMAC tournament beginning
on Wednesday.
In
the Metro series Provencher had at least one hit in every
game and at least two hits in 3 of the 4 games while scoring six
runs and knocked in a team high 11 runs. He also had four home runs,
including two in game two. He added a season game high seven RBI
in game two of the
series to help Mesa State fight back from a 10-0 deficit. His fourth
inning grand slam
gave the Mavericks a 13-10 lead and he recorded a two-run shot in
the fifth inning. Provencher drew two walks (one intentional)
and just three strikeouts in 18 at bats.
He is second on the team with a .435 batting average and has started
53 of 54 games played.
He leads the team in hits (94), RBI (70), doubles (16) and team
high 16 home runs (tied).
MSC
will host the RMAC tournament beginning Wednesday through Saturday
at Suplizio Field and Canyon View Park.
