Brandon Waymire Named RMAC/Rawlings Player of the Week
(November 5, 2007)

Junior free safety Brandon Waymire (6'3, 210, Parker, CO) was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference/Rawlings Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in the Mavericks 18-0 shutout over Colorado School of Mines Saturday afternoon at Stocker Stadium.

Waymire made three interceptions in the game for a total of 39 return yards. His three take aways ties the school record for interceptions in a game. He was credited with two tackles (one solo) as the Mavericks defense held the Orediggers to minus 7-yards rushing on the day.

Waymire's single game interception record ties him with former teammate Art Berlanga (vs Western New Mexico - 2005 and Vic Dutandette Vs Fort Lewis - 1986).

MSC had six turnovers in the game (5 interceptions, 1 fumble) holding Colorado Mines to 158 total offensive yards.

Waymire leads the team with six interceptions and has registered 37 tackles this season. He has one fumble recovery in which he returned it 98-yards for a touchdown at Dixie State earlier this year.
