Ashbaugh Named RMAC/Baden Player of the Week

Junior
forward Justin Ashbaugh (Scottsdale, AZ) was named Rocky
Mountain Athletic Conference West Division Player of the Week in
the Mavericks 95-89 double overtime victory Friday night at Colorado
School of Mines.
Ashbaugh
scored a game high, tying his MSC career high, 28 points and pulled
down a team high seven rebounds in the Mavs first game back following
the holiday break.
Ashbaugh's
reverse lay-up with six seconds remaining in regulation tied the
game at 77 after the Mavs trailed by as many as 14 points in the
second half. In the first overtime period Ashbaugh scored
four points and in the second OT he hit 5 of 6 free throws. Ashbaugh
had four steals in the game, all in the second half and recorded
four rebounds, one steal and one block in the two overtime periods.
The
junior college transfer from Scottsdale Community College made 8
of 13 field goals, 3 of 4 from long distance and 9 of 10 free throws
in the win.
He
leads the team averaging 18.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
He has started all games and is averaging 29.6 minutes. He is second
on the team in steals (16) and blocks (5).
MSC
will host UC-Colorado Springs and Regis University this Friday and
Saturday at Brownson Arena.
