Mavs Score Late Goal to Tie at Fort Lewis, 1-1

Mesa State men's soccer team played Fort Lewis College to a 1-1, double overtime game in Durango Wednesday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half where the Mavs got just one shot off to the Skyhawks 5, MSC out shot Fort Lewis in the second half, 9-8.

Fort Lewis' David Barden put the Skyhawks on top 1-0 scoring his 5th goal of the season at the 58:53 mark. MSC battled the entire second half and freshman Cole List (Durango, CO) scored his first goal of his collegiate career in the 87th minute to tie the game at 1 each.

Each team got off 2 shots each in the first overtime, including 2 corner kicks for the Skyhawks. FLC tallied 5 shots in the second overtime and held Mesa to zero shots in the final overtime period.

MSC goalkeeper Josh Tinaglia played the entire 110 minutes in the net and recorded 9 saves, including 4 in the overtime periods.

MSC heads in to Friday afternoon's game versus Metro State 4-5-2 overall and 3-4-1 in league play. The Roadrunners are currently in first place in the RMAC with a 11-1-2 overall record and 6-0-2 conference record. The two teams will square off at 1:30 PM.
