Extend Win Streak to Three
Eric Anderson Scores Hat Trick in 4-3 Win Over CSU-Pueblo

Mesa
State men's soccer team continued its win streak posting a 3-2 victory
over UC-Colorado Springs Friday night in front of 489 fans. Sunday
afternoon MSC beat CSU-Pueblo 4-3 behind junior Eric Anderson's
hat trick.
Sunday
against CSUP Anderson scored the first two goals (unassisted)
of the game. He found the lower right corner of the net at the 12:50
mark. He notched his fifth goal of the year at 23:29 for a 2-0 MSC
lead. CSUP cut the lead to 2-1 at 43:53 on a "own goal"
by MSC.
In
the second half Nick Gumpert extended the lead to 3-1 on
a shot off a goalie deflection. It was Gumpert's first goal
of the year. The ThunderWolves answered with back-to-back goals
to tie the game with under 19 minutes remaining in regulation.
Anderson's
game winning goal and historic hat trick came with 4:43 remaining
in the game. A shot to the lower left corner off a pass from Jake
Jobe.
Goalkeeper
Josh Tinaglia played all 90 minutes for the Mavs recording
7 saves.
Friday
night in front of the largest crowd to date (489) MSC defeated UC-Colorado
Springs 3-2. MSC's Reese Kegans scored the only first half
goal on a header after taking a pass from Alex Mattevi.
UCCS
tied the game four minutes in to the second half where the scored
remained (1-1) for the next 27 minutes. Eric Anderson broke
the tie off a corner kick header (Sam Dixon - assist) and
a 2-1 lead. UCCS answered back with under 7 minutes remaining to
tie the game again at 2. With 2:15 remaining in regulation Ben
Potter scored the game winner (Eric Anderson - assist)
with a shot to the lower right corner to give the Mavs the league
victory.
Josh
Tinaglia made 10 saves on the night for the victory.
MSC
will host Westminster College in a non-conference game Sunday, September
30 at 1 PM.
