he excelled in wrestling and football

time National Champion in wrestling (1960 at 157 lbs, 1961 at 167

As a sophomore recorded an 11-3
record (3 losses were to DI competitors) on his way to a national
championship and a second place team title
Following graduation
from Mesa Junior College Hines was recruited by the University of
Wyoming where he was a two year letterwinner for the Cowboys, while
pursuing his bachelor's degree
Taught and coached wrestling
at Cokeville, WY for two years
In 1965 Hines moved back to
Delta where he owns and operates Hines Farms
In 1990 he was
named Outstanding Conservation Farmer and received the Safety Achievement
Award in 2001
Hines enjoys flying single engine airplanes,
snowmobiling and spending time at the cabin with family
Jerry
and his wife, Sharon, have three sons, Brent, Cordell and Lance.
Terry Sweet - 'Friend of Maverick Athletics' - Native of
Bloomingdale, Michigan where he attended Bloomingdale High School
and was a four sport athlete (football, basketball, baseball and
track)
