MSC Runners Place Second
at Fort Lewis/Tom Strandt Memorial Run
(Durango, Colo.)

Junior Erin Griffin (Monument, CO) led the
Mavericks at the Tom Strandt Memorial Run cross country meet in
Durango, Colo. earlier today. Griffin ran the five kilometer
run with a time of 21:30.3 to finish fourth overall.
Host school, Fort Lewis College, won the women's race
with a score of 19 points. The Skyhawks placed first through third
place individually. FLC's Jessica Quigley won the race with a time
of 19:57.1.
Fifth year senior, Melissa Hillier (Highlands
Ranch, CO), ran her first race as a member of the MSC cross country
team. Hillier was a four year starter and all-conference
soccer player the past four years. Hillier finished fifth
overall (21:35.4). Junior Catherine Backes (Fruita, CO) had
an eighth placed time of 22:12.8. Newcomers, Janelle Haskins
and Anna Moseley finished 10th and 11th respectively. Freshman
Paige Roberts placed 14th with a time of 23:01.0. Sophomore
Devyn Huck (Estes Park, CO) finished 16th, followed by freshman
Rachel Stophlet, and Rachel Schneider held down 19th
placed in her first collegiate race.
MSC will race on September 18 at the Western State
Invitational in Gunnison, Colo.
