Runners Second at Rocky Mountain Shoot-out - CU

Mesa State cross country team, ranked in last weeks NCAA Division II regional poll (#10), put together another impressive finish at the Rocky Mountain Shoot-out hosted by the University of Colorado in Boulder earlier today.

MSC placed second overall in the Women's Non-Division I Collegiate Team Results in a field of 11. The Mavericks finished second behind nationally ranked Western State College and beat five RMAC teams. MSC tallied 79 points to the Mountaineers 29. FLC was third with 100 points and Regis fourth with 130 points. Metro State came in 6th (169 points), CSU-Pueblo was 10th (238 points) and Colorado Christian 11th (253 points).

Overall the race featured 15 teams and MSC placed 4th overall, including a win over the University of Northern Colorado, a team they placed behind last week at the Colorado College Invitational.

MSC was paced once again by Samantha Towne and Esmeralda Martinez-Ramos. In the Non-Division I race (5.8K) Towne was fifth in a time of 22:41 and Martinez-Ramos crossed the line 11th overall in a time of 23:16.

Morgan Moore, Anna Moseley and Samantha Hentosh finished 14th, 22nd and 27th respectively.Moore ran a time of 23:33, Moseley - 24:23 and Hentosh 24:37.

Brianna Hammer and Monique Carrillo placed 29th and 52nd respectively. Hammer clocked a time of 27:08 and Carrillo, 27:31.

MSC will train for the upcoming RMAC Championships scheduled for October 20 hosted by Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO.
