Maverick Runners Second at Western State Open
(Gunnison, CO)

Samantha Towne and Esmeralda Martinez-Ramos led the way as the Mavericks finished second at the Western State Open in Gunnison Saturday morning. Three of the Mavs seven runners placed in the top 10.

Towne and Martinez-Ramos placed 8th and 9th respectively. Towne ran the 5k in a time of 20:49.12, while Martinez-Ramos was seconds behind with a time of 20:56.23. Freshman Morgan Moore placed 10th overall crossing the line in a time of 21:26.60. Sophomore Samantha Hentosh (21:50.56) and Janelle Haskins (21:58.55) were 11th and 12th place finishers.

Anna Moseley (22:26.34) and Ashlee Hafey (23:41.53) came across the line in 13th and 14th place respectively.

Andrea Ager (24:08.63), Monique Carrillo (25:11.08) and Natalie Corbet (25:37.99) competed for the Mavs.

Host Western State took home top team and individual honors. Anne Ronoh of WSC was first in a time of 19:58.05.

MSC will travel to Colorado College in Colorado Springs next Saturday.
