Finish 2nd at RMAC Fall Invitational #1

Mesa
State women's golf team finished second at the RMAC Fall Invitational
#1 hosted by the University of Neb.-Kearney at the Meadowlark Hills
Golf Course. Western New Mexico claimed top team honors posting
a 656. The Mustangs were 16 strokes better than the second place
Mavs, 672. Host Neb.-Kearney was third with 706.
MSC's
carded a two day total team round of 672 and shaved off 18 strokes
from day one's action (345-day one, 327-day two). Senior Amanda
Preston (Eagle, CO), a RMAC Preseason All-Conference selection
carded a round of 83 each day (166), finishing tied for 6th overall.
Maggie Cole (Sr., Aztec, NM) was 9th overall with after knocking
off nine strokes in the final round of play (89-80) for a 169. Sadie
Peavler (Jr. Star Valley, WY) tied for 12th (89-83) with a 172.
Senior
Amanda Rollins (Vernal, UT) had the largest turnaround, knocking
off 13 strokes in the final round of play (94-81), placing tied
for 16th (175). Dana Anderson tied for 18th with a two day
total 177 (84-93).
Western
New Mexico led the field with a 339 after day one, just six strokes
ahead of MSC. The Mustangs knocked off 22 strokes on day two and
placed four golfers in the top 10 individual results. Neb.-Kearney's
Kami Hehn was top medalist in the field shooting an 81 and 78 respectively
(706).
Fort
Hays State placed 4th (718), Chadron State just four strokes back
for fifth place (722) and Adams State was 6th with a 739 team total.
MSC
will travel to Denver next Monday and Tuesday for the second of
three RMAC Fall Invitational tournaments. The two day tournament
will be played at Fox Hollow Golf Course
