Remain Undefeated, Improve to 4-0-1
(Shutout Minn.-Duluth 4-0, Beat South Dakota 2-1 in OT)

Mesa
State women's soccer team came from behind to defeat the University
of South Dakota in overtime Sunday afternoon. The loss was the first
for the Coyotes and kept the Mavs undefeated season in tact.
USD
scored in the first half at the 14:16 mark and then was shutout
by MSC's defense and a stellar performance by goalkeeper Madeline
Gray. It was the first goal Gray has given up this season.
Gray was credited with 5 saves, facing 6 shots on goal by
the Coyotes.
MSC's
Ashley Nemmers found the back of the net in the right lower
corner off a pass from Mallory Reid to tie the game at the
78:18 mark. After just four shots in the first half by MSC the Mavs
recorded 9 shots in the second half, out shooting USD, 16-14.
Christina
Pauley scored the game winning goal just 3:47 in to the first
overtime on a perfect feed from Stephanie Lee. Pauley
took the pass and challenged USD's goalkeeper going one-on-one,
finding the lower right corner of the net for the Mavs fourth victory
of the year. It was Pauley's fourth goal of the year and
third consecutive game winning goal.
Friday
afternoon MSC shutout Minn.-Duluth 4-0, in a total team effort that
saw four different players scoring in the Mavs third win of the
year. Christina Pauley scored on a header off a pass from
Autumn Espe at the 2:18 mark. The early goal set the tone
as MSC went on to score one more goal in the first half; Katrina
Hartfield's first goal of the year. (Stephanie Lee -
assist).
Mesa
State secured the win with two more goals late in the game. Jami
Simpson's goal off an assist from Lauren Sell came with
just under 8 minutes remaining in regulation. Sell scored
(87:10) her fourth goal of the year after drawing the goalkeeper
out of the net after taking a pass from Rachelle Ormond.
Madeline
Gray and Kelsey Woodson combined for the shutout with
3 and 5 saves respectively. MSC had four corner kicks and out shot
the Bulldogs 20-13.
MSC
opens RMAC action on the road next week at Regis and Metro State.
