Close Out Series Win with 8-0 Shutout over Chadron State
(Game One: 3-1, Game Two: 4-7, Game Three: W 7-2,

Mesa
State improved to 10-6 overall and 8-4 in RMAC action after taking
three of four games from visiting Chadron State this weekend. Following
a split in Saturday's doubleheader the Mavericks swept Sunday's
action including a 8-0-five inning shutout over the Eagles.
Junior
right-hander Jessica Rayman pitched three complete games
and was credited with three wins pushing her record to 7-2 overall.
Rayman allowed just three runs in 19 innings of work and
struck out a total of 10 Eagle batters.
MSC
opened the series Saturday with a 3-1 victory despite being out
hit by Chadron, six its to four. MSC scored two runs in the first
and one run in the third for the win.
CSC
took game two 7-4 scoring on nine hits including a three run inning
in the third to take the lead 4-1. MSC's Nicole Zuniga had
two homeruns in the game and Jamie Prather hit a solo homerun
to lead of the fourth inning. Alicia Neuschwanger (3-4) took
the loss allowing seven runs (five earned) on nine hits.
Sunday's
doubleheader sweep resulted in a 7-2 victory and a two hit 8-0 shutout
in five innings for the Mavericks. Game one MSC scored a single
run in the second and fourth and five runs in the third. Anita
Diaz went 3-for-3 from the plate wit three RBI. Rayman
posted the victory allowing two runs on eight hits, four walks and
four strikeouts.
The
series finale was an 8-0 shutout in five innings that had the Mavs
score at least two runs in three of the four innings they came to
the plate. Zuniga, Hennessy and Samantha Wyatt
each hit a homerun and Diaz and Amanda Marchegiano
each hit a double. MSC tallied nine hits. Rayman allowed
two hits and struck out four.
MSC
will travel to UC-Colorado Springs for a four game series beginning
with a doubleheader on Friday at Noon.
