Coach Pearson enters his second season as head coach at Mesa State. Brian brings twenty-two years of coaching experience to the Maverick Tankers and success is no stranger to Coach Pearson.
Last season "Mav" swimmers reestablished 62 school records. But, what a difference a year makes. Recruiting went extremely well and the Mavericks look to erase all previous benchmarks this season.

Having served as the head coach at Colorado College for nine seasons. Pearson's college Swimmers and Divers have set 163 team records, claimed 91 championship titles, qualified 21 individuals for nationals and produced 4 NCAA All-Americans.

A native of Pueblo, Colorado, Brian began swimming at the age of four. Developing into a high school All-American, two-time Colorado state high school champion, two-time junior national champion and record holder with three long-course times that remained in the Nation's Top 100 for over a decade. As a result he was ranked top ten in the world in 1983.

Brian continued his swimming success at the University of Missouri and the University of Wyoming, where he was a Big Eight champion, two-time Western Athletic Conference Champion, NCAA qualifier, USS national's finalist and Olympic hopeful in two events.

Since his collegiate career Pearson has received Coaching Excellence Awards (2001, 2004 & 2006) and level V status by the American Swimming Coaches Association/College Swimming Coaches Association of America.

In addition he has assisted or directed winning programs in Denver (ACES), Greenwood Village (GTS), Delta (Barracudas), Grand Junction (Dolphins), Pueblo (South), Sitka, Alaska (Baranof Barracudas) and Colorado Springs (CSST).

Coach Pearson believes that, with a positive attitude, perseverance and a long-term commitment, a swimmer can attain their goals. We are here to promote our program and to make a positive lifelong change in athletes lives. We can do this and make their stay at Mesa State College rewarding and memorable.

Pearson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology, cardiac rehabilitation and commercial fitness from the University of Wyoming in 1989. Coach Pearson and his wife, Tiffiney, enjoy outdoor activities with their daughter Piper and son Kamden.
