State Places Sixth at Jack Christiansen Invitational

Mesa
State women's track & field placed sixth overall in a field
of 11 at the Jack Christiansen Invitational hosted by Colorado
State University. MSC's sixth place finish (35.5 points) was the
best finish by an RMAC school. UC-Colorado Springs finished eighth
(22), Western State was ninth (19) and Metro State College placed
10th (17). Host CSU won the women's team title with 180 points.
MSC
had seven top-5 finishes and placed in the top 10 in 11 events.
Senior
Stephanie Dumas placed fourth in the 100 meter dash in
a time of 12.44. Danielle Rose was fifth (12.47) and Stephanie
Litsheim finished 11th (13.14).
MSC's
fifth place finishes included Danielle Rose's time of 25.87
in the 200 meter dash and Andrea Ager in the 400 meter
hurdles. Samantha Towne was fifth in the 1500 meter run
(5:09.66) and Esmeralda Martinez-Ramos' fifth place finish
in the 5000 meter run (19:23.04).
The
Mavericks 4 x 400 relay team placed third and seventh place. The
team of Tasha Thompson, Jessica Smith, Deb Benson
and Ager finished third (4:09.95). A seventh place finish
included the team of Janelle Haskins, Samantha Hentosh,
Monique Carrillo, and Martinez-Ramos (4:32:01).
MSC
will travel to Western State College (Gunnison, CO) for the RMAC
Championship beginning Sunday, May 4 - 6.
