Mavericks Win 1600 meter relay at Mesa Classic

Mesa State's track and field team took home first place in the 1600-meter relay event at the Mesa Classic hosted by Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona.

The team of Natalie Corbet, Deb Benson, Jessica Smith and Andrea Ager won in a time of 4:7.27 over second place team Pima Community College. Corbet finished third in the 400 meter hurdles and sixth in the 100 meter hurdles. Ager was fourth in the 400 meter hurdles. Benson placed sixth in the 800 meter run.

Sprinter Stephanie Dumas finished sixth in the 200 and 400 meter dash. Esmeralda Martinez Ramos was second in the 5000 meter run and teammate Samantha Towne crossed the line in fourth place. Samantha Hentosh was fifth in the 1500 meter run.

The Mesa Classic included Adams State, Central Arizona, Northern Arizona, Pima Community College and Scottsdale Community College.

MSC will take next weekend off to prepare for the Jack Christensen Invitational on April 26, hosted by Colorado State University.
