Split at Oredigger Classic, Choules Named to All-Tourney Team

On
the road for the second consecutive weekend the Mesa State volleyball
team split four games at the Days Inn-Denver West Oredigger Classic
hosted by Colorado Mines in Golden, Colo.
Friday
afternoon MSC swept Merrimack College 30-23, 30-21, 30-23 behind
Jessica Bird's 12 kills and .320 hitting percentage. Kristen
Schnake and Drew Choules added 10 kills each. Choules
hit .316 in the match and posted 13 digs.
In
the Friday night match Montana State Billings handed the Mavericks
their third loss of the season, falling 30-32, 20-30, 30-22, 18-30.
MSC hit .041 in the match and recorded 38 errors. MSU-Billings finished
with 61 kills and 10 team blocks. Choules had a team high
13 kills and Ashley Loftsgard had a game high 30 digs.
Mesa
State opened Saturday's play with a 3-1 (30-27, 31-29, 22-30, 30-22)
win over Ferris State University. The loss was Ferris States first
of the season (6-1). Freshman Lindsey Jefferson had a career
high 10 kills, three solo blocks and six block assists in the four
set match. Alisan Tompkins recorded 14 kills and 13 digs.
Number
six ranked Concordia - St. Paul remained undefeated (8-0) in a three
game sweep of the Mavs, 30-23, 30-18, 30-17. MSC finished with 28
kills, 4 team blocks and a -.034 hitting percentage. Concordia tallied
43 kills, 11 team blocks and a .222 hitting percentage.
MSC's
Drew Choules was selected to the All-Tournament Team. She
was one of four RMAC players named to the seven player tournament
team.
MSC
will begin RMAC action this weekend on the road at Western New Mexico
and New Mexico Highlands.
