Mesa's Win Steak Ends against Kearney, Defeat Chadron
(Loses to UNK in four, Beats Chadron in three)
(Article by Stephanie Dumas)

Though Mesa had four players in double digits in kills, it wasn't enough to get past 24th ranked Nebraska-Kearney Friday night (25-30, 16-30, 34-32, 25-30). While the Mavs (6-5 in RMAC) recorded more kills than UNK (72-71), they also more than doubled UNK's attack errors (32-15). With this win Kearney improved to 7-2 in RMAC and got revenge on the Mavs who beat them twice in 5 games, once in the regular season and again in the first round of the NCAA Tournament a year ago.

Alison Tompkins played well like she usually does against UNK, providing 19 kills and 11 digs. Kristen Schnake matched her 11 digs and also added 17 kills. Jessica Bird had 12 kills and Tessa Andrews had 10. Drew Choules led with 24 digs and Dara Waialae assisted in 31 of the teams' kills.

Saturday night Mesa added another win to the season beating the Eagles of Chadron 30-20, 30-20, 30-19. Chadron (3-7 in RMAC) never saw a chance as they hit just .129 while the Mavs hit .426 on the night. .

Leading the way, Choules had 18 kills on 29 attempts and also led with 13 digs. Bird hit .571 with 13 kills, Schnake added 12 kills and 9 digs, and Waialae led them in assists again with 27.

Next up the Mavs are back at Brownson for two tough games in UC-Colorado Springs who are on a six-game winning streak and currently first in conference standings with a record of 10-1, and Regis who are also 6-5 like Mesa. Both games begin at 7 pm.
