Clinch RMAC Shoot-out Bid with Win over CSU-Pueblo
(MSC Beats T-Wolves 96-62, Drop 78-66 Contest against Adams State)

State (13-12, 11-6 RMAC) clinched a spot in the RMAC post-season
tournament Friday night with a 96-62 victory over CSU-Pueblo. The
Mavericks raced out to a 17-8 lead in the first six minutes of the
game and never trailed in the contest, holding down a 44-29 half-time
lead.
MSC
hit 11-of-16 treys, eight in the second half, extending their 25-point
half-time lead to 34 points. MSC had four players in double digit
figures and out rebounded the T-Wolves 56-30. Every Mav player scored
at least two points led by Kelsie Gourdin's game high 19
points. Brittany Fowler recorded 18 points, Courtney McCaig
had a career high 12 points and nine rebounds. Jocelyn Zarling
had 10 points off the bench, three rebounds and three assists.
Saturday
night Adams State handed the Mavs just their second home conference
loss at Brownson Arena, beating the Mavericks 78-66. ASC went to
the foul line 34 times (21-34) while MSC stepped up just 19 times
(11-19). The Grizzlies were all over the boards, out rebounding
MSC 60-34, including 21 offensive rebounds for ASC.
Fowler
finished with a game high 20 points and teammate Stephanie Delgado
added 11 points. ASC had four players in double figures.
MSC
led 34-29 at half but was out scored by the Grizzlies 49-32 in the
second half. MSC shot 38 percent from the floor (27-71) and 12 percent
from behind the arc (1-8). The win improved the Grizzlies to 11-14
overall and 8-9 in league action.
MSC
will return to Brownson Arena this week for its final two home regular
season games. Tuesday night against league-leading Fort Lewis College
and Thursday night MSC will host Western State College.
