Mavs Split RMAC West Road Games
(Fall to #21 Ft. Lewis, Last Second Shot Beats Western 73-71)

Mesa State improved to 7-10 overall and 5-4 in RMAC action beating rival Western State Saturday in Gunnison on Brittany Fowler's jumper with 15 seconds remaining in regulation.

The Mavericks went on a run late in the second half after trailing by nine with 11 minutes remaining. MSC took their first lead in the second half on a 3-pointer by Fowler with 3:17 left in the game. WSC tied the game at 71 on jumper by Chelsea Wilkins with 32 seconds left. Fowler sealed the victory on the final shot of the game and finished the night with a team high 15 points, including six rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Cassie Hutto added 11 points and seven rebounds. Abby Hancock added 13 points off the bench, hitting 5-of-8 from the floor.

Tuesday night in Durango #21 ranked Fort Lewis Skyhawks remained undefeated in league play (14-1, 7-0) with a 67-50 win over Mesa State. MSC trailed by just four points at half (26-30) but were out scored 37-24 in the second half. The Mavericks shot just 26.9 percent (7-26) in the second half and committed 25 turnovers in the game.

Stephanie Delgado led the Mavericks with 13 points and six rebounds off the bench. Fowler added 12 points.

MSC will host Western New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands next Friday and Saturday at Brownson Arena. Both games are scheduled to tip-off at 6 pm.
