Mavs Sweep Weekend Action, Beat UC-Colorado Springs, Regis

Mesa State extended their win streak to three with two home victories this weekend, improving their record to 6-9 overall and 4-3 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action. MSC defeated UC-Colorado Springs Friday night, 68-52 and followed that up Saturday night with a 95-78 win over the Regis Rangers.

Brittany Fowler led all players with 16 points and pulled down a team high eight rebounds in a 68-52 win over the Mountain Lions of UC-Colorado Springs. Kelsie Gourdin poured in 13 points and matched Fowler's eight rebounds. Cassie Hutto finished with 12 points and Abby Hancock added 11 points off the bench.

MSC led 29-19 at half-time and shot 50% from the floor in the second half (12-24 FG) to pull away for a 16-point victory.

Saturday night against Regis all five Maverick starters scored in double figures beating the Rangers for the first time since the 2002-2003 season. MSC led 44-30 at half and shot 53.2% for the game and an impressive 58.8% from the arc (10-17). MSC out rebounded Regis 37-28 and forced 17 Ranger turnovers.

Fowler led all players with 26 points, including six treys (6-11), six rebounds and five assists. Gourdin and Lindsey Kame had 17 points each and combined for 12 rebounds and six assists. Hutto went 7-of-9 from the floor for her 14 points. Hancock finished with 12 points, three assists and two steals.

MSC's 95 points is a team high point total this year and marks the third time this season the Mavs have scored 90+ points.

MSC will travel to Fort Lewis College Tuesday to play the league-leading Skyhawks who boast an impressive 14-1 overall record and 7-0 league mark.
