Mavs Score Season High Six Goals in Victory at Adams State
(MSC defeats Grizzlies 6-1 in non-conference action)

Mesa State women's soccer team remains undefeated (2-0-1) following a 6-1 win over Adams State Wednesday afternoon. The Mavericks scored four goals in the first half, including two first half back-to-back goals by Christina Pauley.

Junior Deb Benson scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Lauren Sell to give MSC a 1-0 lead. Adams State tied the game at one on a goal by Ashley Sales who picked up a loose ball from the goalie for her fifth goal of the year. MSC shutdown the Grizzlies after that, scoring five unanswered goals for the non-conference win.

Pauley broke the 1-1 tie on consecutive goals just under four minutes apart. Pauley's second goal was a header from six feet out off an assist from Kira Brannan. Junior Kylie Kegans tallied her first goal (37:49) of the year to give the Mavs a 4-1 half-time lead.

Senior Lauren Sell recorded her third goal to go along with her two assists at the 73:47 mark. Sell scored on a pass over the middle from Ashley Nemmers. Jami Simpson closed out the game with a blast from 22 yards (Sell - assist) out to give the Mavs a 6-1 victory.

MSC's goalkeepers Kelsey Woodson, Kaitlin Bennett and Madeline Gray all played in the Mavs victory. Woodson played the entire first half with Bennett and Gray seeing second half action.

MSC finished with 26 shots to the Grizzlies 11 and recorded 7 corner kicks, allowing Adams State 1 in the second half.

MSC will return home to host Minnesota-Duluth on Friday at 4 pm. On Sunday MSC will play South Dakota at 12:30 PM
