Mavericks Extend Match Win Streak to Six

Mesa State women's tennis team improved to 10-8 overall and 2-1 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action winning four home dual matches this weekend.

MSC shut out Colorado Christian, 9-0, Thursday afternoon in a non-conference match. CCU will host MSC next week in Lakewood, which has been designated as the conference match. MSC swept all six singles matches in straight sets.

The Mavericks shut out RMAC foe Western New Mexico, 9-0, Friday afternoon. MSC dropped just one set in the sweep of the Mustangs.

Saturday morning the Mavericks defeated CSU-Pueblo, 6-3, winning all three doubles matches and three of the six singles matches. MSC's number one singles player, Teri Mayeda, led the way with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Jamie Raun. Victoria Sargent and Jamie Hanks won at number three and six singles respectively for the Mavericks.

MSC closed out the busy weekend with a 9-0 win over College of Idaho. The Mavericks swept all but one singles match in straight sets. Mayeda defeated Kyla Westerberg in three sets for the dual sweep.

MSC will travel to Colorado Springs next weekend for a non-conference match with Colorado College. Saturday and Sunday MSC will face RMAC opponents, Colorado Christian, Neb.-Kearney and Metro State. All three dual matches will be played in the Denver area.
