Construction on the $7 million development of a new soccer stadium and parking structure began in December of 2006. The structure was completed in the Summer of 2007 and had its official grand opening August 18 of that year.
The stadium provides seating for 500 people. The new lighted field has and artificial turf with synthetic grass and is home to the women’s and newly created men’s soccer teams.Local high school teams, as well as youth soccer teams, also use the field in addition to Mesa State’s soccer teams and intercollegiate sports. The use of the facility can go beyond sports, and is also open to various events hosted by students.
The new soccer stadium was the first phase of the $36 million Saunders renovation and additions.
