Financial Aid Application Steps

STEP 1
Complete the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form is available from your high school counselor, any college financial aid office in your community, or the Financial Aid Office at Mesa State. Applications may also be filed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

STEP 2
Send your financial aid application in the envelope provided within the application. Please remember to include: Mesa State College, and our school code 001358 in the section that asks which school you plan to attend.

STEP 3
In four to six weeks (2-3 weeks if filed online), the federal processing center will evaluate your application and send you a Student Aid Report (SAR). Look the report over. If it's correct, and you listed Mesa State College in the school section, file the SAR with your records. We will mail you additional requirements, if necessary. If your application is not correct, make any corrections you have and return the application to the federal processor.

STEP 4
The Financial Aid Office will review your report to determine whether you are eligible for need-based assistance and will send you a notification "Award Letter" of your award in the mail.

STEP 5
Return the award letter to the Financial Aid Office accepting or rejecting each item on the award. You may mail your response to:
