First-time freshmen and transfer students must submit the Mesa
State College Scholarship Application, the Application for Admission,
academic transcripts, and ACT or SAT test results to the Admissions
Office by March 2008 for the fall of 2008 to be considered for scholarships
listed on this page. Some scholarships require an additional application

WCCC

Students planning to enroll in a program within Applied Technology
at Western Colorado Community College (WCCC) at the Bishop Campus,
must submit the WCCC Scholarship application to be considered for
scholarships.
Mesa State College Foundation / Private Scholarships

The Mesa State College Foundation administers over $300,000 in
private scholarships to nearly 260 students each year. These scholarships
range from a cash stipend to full tuition and fees. Many of these
scholarships require a separate application process and have specific
requirements.
Talent Scholarships
The departments of art, theatre, and music annually award scholarships
to qualified students. These awards are generally awarded based
on talent and auditions. To be considered for these scholarships,
contact the individual departments for instructions on completing
an application or any special requirements for auditions, tryouts,
or portfolios. For information on athletic scholarships, contact

Academic Achievement Award
Value of award: $1200 per year
Renewable four-year scholarship awarded to individuals who have
distinguished themselves academically. Selection is based on a combination
of GPA, test scores, and academic course selection. Students must
have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be in the top 20% of their class, and have
at least a 22 ACT or 1040 SAT.
Presidential Scholarship
Value of award: $2,000 per year
Renewable four-year scholarship awarded to individuals who have
distinguished themselves academically. Selection is based on a combination
of GPA, test scores, and academic course selection. Students must
have a minimum 3.25 GPA, be in the top 15% of their class, and have
at least a 25 ACT or 1120 SAT.
Trustee Scholarship
Value of award: $2,500 per year
Renewable four-year scholarship awarded to individuals who have
distinguished themselves academically. Selection is based on a combination
of GPA, test scores, and academic course selection. Students must
have a minimum 3.5 GPA, be in the top 10% of their class, and have
at least a 27 ACT or 1200 SAT.
Mesa State College Distinguished Scholars
Value of award: In-state tuition and fees per year
Our most prestigious academic award for incoming freshmen. Selection
is based on a combination of GPA, test scores, and academic course
selection. Students must have a minimum 3.75 GPA, be in the top
5% of their class, and have at least a 29 ACT or 1280 SAT.
Ambassador Leadership Scholarship

Value of award: full tuition and student fees per year
The Ambassador Leadership Scholarship is a highly competitive, renewable,
four-year leadership scholarship available to incoming freshman.
Students must demonstrate that they have extensive leadership experience
in their high school, community and in co-curricular activities.
Up to ten students are selected each year. Selected students are
involved in alumni, admissions, presidential receptions and more.

Canyon Passage Scholarship
Value of Award: $750 per year
Renewable three-year scholarships available to new transfer students
to Mesa State College with a minimum 3.0 GPA
First Generation Scholarship
Value of Award: $1,000 per year
Renewable four-year scholarship awarded to entering Western Colorado
freshmen whose parents do not have a prior college degree. Selection
is based on a combination of GPA, test scores, and class rank. Students
must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, be in the top 25% of their class, and
have at least a 21 ACT or 970 SAT. Recipient must document financial
need.
Phi Theta Kappa
Value of award: $2,400
Available to transfer students. Eligibility requirements: Phi Theta
Kappa member at an accredited two-year institution; have completed
at least 30 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5,
are a U. S. citizen or permanent resident, and do not already possess
a bachelor´s degree.
Two Rivers Scholarship
Value of Award: $1500 per year
Renewable three-year scholarships available to new transfer students
to Mesa State College with a minimum 3.5 GPA.
Western Undergraduate Exchange
(WUE)
Value of award: resident tuition plus 50 percent
The Western Undergraduate Exchange Program provides students from
the western United States the opportunint to enroll at a reduced
tuition rate. Participating states include: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado,
Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon,
South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. There is a limited
number of awards.
Mountains and Plains
Value of award: resident tuition plus 50%
The Mountains and Plains Award is available to entering freshmen
or transfer students from Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Iowa
and Missouri.
International students
and students with previous baccalaureate degrees
are ineligible for the above awards.
