ARTICLE III: FACULTY SENATE OFFICERS

Section 1. Officers.

1.1 The officers of the Faculty Senate shall be the President, Vice
President, and Secretary.

1.2 The Executive Committee shall consist of the President, Vice
President, Secretary, and Past-President.

Section 2. Election and Removal of Officers.

2.1 Officers shall be members of the Mesa State College Faculty
Senate.

2.2 The Senate President shall appoint a nominating committee each
year to select candidates for the positions of President, Vice
President, and Secretary.

2.3 The President, Vice President, and Secretary shall be elected by the
members of the Faculty Senate for a term of one year. Terms of
office shall begin June 1.

2.4 To be elected as an officer of the Faculty Senate, the nominee must
receive a majority of the votes cast by the members of the Faculty
Senate.

2.5 Officers of the Faculty Senate may succeed themselves in office.

Section 3. Duties of the Faculty Senate President.

3.1 The President shall be the presiding officer of the Faculty Senate.

3.2 The President shall serve as an ex-officio member of all standing
committees of the Senate.

3.3 The President shall appoint ad hoc committees upon approval of the
Senate.

3.4 The President shall be responsible for the administration of the
budget of the Faculty Senate.

3.5 The President of the Senate shall give regular reports to the Board
of Trustees at its meetings.

3.6 The President shall perform such other duties as may pertain to this
office.

Section 4. Duties of the Faculty Senate Vice President.

4.1 In the absence of the President, the Vice President shall perform
the duties of the President.

4.2 The Vice President shall ensure that Senate committees are
properly constituted and functioning.

4.3 The Vice President shall conduct all polls and elections for the Senate.

4.4 The Vice President shall perform such other duties as may pertain to this office.

Section 5. Duties of the Faculty Senate Secretary.

5.1 The Secretary shall be responsible for the recording of the minutes
of the Faculty Senate.

5.2 The Secretary shall be responsible for correspondence of the
Faculty Senate.

5.3 The Secretary shall perform such other duties as may pertain to
this office.

Section 6. Duties of the Past President.

6.1 The immediate Past President shall serve on the Executive
Committee.

6.2 The Past President shall perform such other duties as may pertain
to this office.
