SUBJECT: Official Alternate Holiday Schedule for 2008/2009
Listed below are the ten holidays as declared by the Governor:
1) New Years Day
2) Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Birthday
3) Washington/Lincoln Day
4) Memorial Day
5) Independence Day
6) Labor Day
7) Columbus Day
8) Veterans Day
9) Thanksgiving Day
10) Christmas Day
Mesa State College will observe the following Official Alternate
Holiday Schedule for 2008/2009:
1) July 4, 2008 - Friday - Independence Day
2) November 27, 2008 - Thursday - Thanksgiving Day
3) November 28, 2008 - Friday - Labor Day
4) December 25, 2008 - Thursday - Christmas Day
5) December 26, 2008 - Friday - Columbus Day
6) December 29, 2008 - Monday - Veterans Day
7) December 30, 2008 - Tuesday - Dr. M. Luther King Day
8) December 31, 2008 - Wednesday - Washington-Lincoln Day
9) January 1, 2009 - Thursday - New Years Day
10) May 25, 2009 - Monday - Memorial Day
For leave and compensation purposes these alternate holidays are
the official holidays and not the statutory holidays. For example,
if you work September 1, 2008 (Statutory Holiday - Labor Day), you
have not earned holiday leave, but if you work November 28, 2008
(Official Alternate Holiday - Labor Day), you will be granted holiday
leave. Mesa State College will apply the leave and compensation
for all administrators and Classified Staff based on the Official
Alternate Holidays.
