ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
POSITION TITLE: Admissions Counselor - Denver
RESPONSIBILITIES: Organize, prepare, and
present recruitment programs to high school and college students
by making presentations, distributing information, meeting prospective
students and their parents and communicating with them by various
means; arrange campus tours for prospective students and their parents/guests.
Within their territories, Admissions Counselors are responsible
for maintaining comparative territory tracking records, identifying
demographic trends, and building relationships with key personnel
in schools. Admissions Counselors are expected to set territorial
goals and be innovative and competitive in individual and territorial
programming, and are also expected to share their successes with
the overall recruitment team while constantly paying attention to
the cost effectiveness of their recruitment activity. Perform preliminary
financial aid, scholarship, and career counseling spotlighting the
related benefits of MSC to the prospective student, as well as counseling
with parents and high school and college counselors about admission
to both Mesa State College and Western Colorado Community College.
Assist students with some advising and course registration. Tactfully,
carefully, and in consideration of college policies, manage individual
complaints, disputes and grievances relative to all facets of the
admission process. Within established guidelines and policies, consider
waivers of normal application fees and other elements that contribute
to increased enrollment and student retention.
Additionally, within their areas of specializations
and delegated tasks, Admissions Counselors are expected to contribute
to the development of manuals, presentations, brochures, emails
and other media and collateral to affect, not only their individual
territories but, the collective group of prospects.
Utilizing effective interpersonal skills, Admissions Counselors
work independently and in teams, in office settings, or with individuals
in other offices. Must also exhibit honesty, tact and integrity
relating to campus policies, student records and office/campus working
protocols.
Recruitment territory includes, but is not limited
to the City of Denver and the Front Range corridor including Colorado
Springs. Extensive travel and evening/weekend work required, as
needed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's
degree from an accredited institution is required. Must possess
the ability to exercise independent judgment in the scheduling and
planning of high school and community college visits and activities
within assigned recruitment territories, and to schedule time, resources
and energies within the scope of other recruitment initiatives planned
throughout the year to affect an overall increase in the enrollment
in recruitment territories. Must possess the ability to learn and
apply computer technology as it relates to this position. Public
speaking experience, confidence in interpersonal networking and
the ability to relate to individuals from a variety of circumstances
required. Demonstrated experience consistent with setting and achieving
organizational goals a must. Must possess and maintain valid driver's
license.
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, administrative
appointment.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.
