POSITION: Assistant Professor in Nursing
- Maternal/Child focus
RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities and duties
include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching, advising, and evaluating in department
instructional program
- Selecting learning experiences in clinical laboratory,
as necessary
- Developing and maintaining an active scholarship
agenda
- Making professional contributions to shared governance
by actively participating in faculty meetings and committees
- Maintaining good rapport with cooperating health
facilities
- Evaluating efficiency and appropriateness of
teaching methods through established evaluation approaches
- Timely and satisfactory performance of responsibilities
specified in the Faculty member's employment agreement and MSC
Faculty Handbook
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Candidate must
be eligible for or hold a current license in good standing to practice
as a Registered Nurse in Colorado. Must have at least 2 years of
full-time (or equivalent) professional nursing clinical experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills related to the teaching of adults,
teaching methodology, curriculum development and evaluation; or
a written plan for obtaining such knowledge, for which acquisition
of these skills would begin no later than during the first year
of teaching. Graduate degree required. If graduate degree is non-nursing,
applicant must have a Bachelor's degree in nursing and demonstrate
evidence of how graduate degree is relevant to the area of responsibility.
PhD. preferred. Must have maternal/child nursing experience
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.

APPOINTMENT: Full-time, tenure track appointment
to begin Fall, 2008.
LOCATION: Grand Junction is nestled below
three mountain ranges, Bookcliffs, Colorado National Monument, and
the Grand Mesa. Grand Junction is west of the Rockies and 30 miles
from the Utah border; the moderate climate provides year-round recreation
activities from fishing to skiing. The city and valley of approximately
115,000 is the economic hub of the region, located midway between
Denver and Salt Lake City.
THE COLLEGE: Mesa State College is a growing
public institution with an enrollment of approximately 6200 students.
The college has a major commitment to science and liberal arts education
and to the encouragement of scholarship. The Department of Health
Sciences offers a career ladder nursing program, including a Practical
Nursing, LPN-AAS degree as well as an on-line RN-BSN completion
program. The Department also offers the basic Bachelor's of Science
in Nursing program. In addition, an AAS in Radiologic Sciences degree,
plus, beginning Fall, 2008, a Bachelor's of Applied Science in Radiologic
Sciences will be offered. Currently an EMT program is offered, with
expansion to the associate degree in paramedic education to begin
Fall, 2008.
