Head of Residence Hall - Rait Hall
(All-female hall - must be female to apply)

RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a 12-month, live-in position reporting to the Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life. The Head of Residence Hall is a member of the Residence Life Staff, creating opportunities for student development through programs and individual student interactions, and maintaining a strong student focus with evening and weekend commitments. This position is responsible for the organization and leadership of student development programs as well as management of administrative operations of an undergraduate residence hall in a growing housing operation. This position is key in the overall operation and success of a growing community within a residence hall, and is responsible for creating and maintaining an educational environment in the residence hall.

The Head of Residence Hall must be a capable person who senses the responsibilities of the position and knows when his or her presence or action is appropriate and necessary. Furthermore, the Head of Residence Hall must recognize that the actions of individuals or groups on the premises of the residence halls fall within the realm of her jurisdiction and area of responsibility.

The Head of Residence Hall also has duties within the central housing department that will be assigned - either Summer Conference Coordinator, Residence Life Assistant, or Residence Hall Association Advisor.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree required in Student Personnel Services or related field, or a Bachelor's degree in a non-related area with at least two years of experience in residence life. Must have a working knowledge of hall management, business practices, and the importance of personal contacts with students, faculty and staff. In addition, this person must be familiar with college life and the needs and interests of students. Must have lived in campus housing. Must demonstrate a strong desire to affect residents' lives in a beneficial manner and the ability to work toward creating positive memories and community. Demonstration of excellence in organizational skills, sensitivity for diverse populations, and an ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff is required. Above all, the Head of Residence Hall must enjoy living and working with college-age students.

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, administrative appointment.

SALARY: Starting salary $23,660.00/year, housing, partial meal plan, annual and sick leave, parking pass. Excellent health and retirement benefits package.
