ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor of Teacher Education
RESPONSIBILITIES: Mesa State College invites applications
and nominations for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Curriculum
& Instruction with a strong background in ESOL and diversity
education. The successful candidate for this position will contribute
professionally to the undergraduate and graduate programs in the
Center for Teacher Education. Mesa State College is interested in
applicants who are deeply committed to K - 12 teacher preparation
through the use of innovative methodology, pedagogical best practices
and instructional technologies. The successful candidate will perform
teaching responsibilities, coordinate and supervise field based
experiences, maintain an active program of scholarship commensurate
with a teaching centric college, perform student advising duties
and service contributions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Required qualifications
include an earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or a closely
related field, undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience
in the area of diversity and/or ESOL, three years of K - 12 experience.
ABD will be considered but the degree must be conferred by Fall
2008. Knowledge of accreditation processes as well as course development
and delivery for distance learning is preferred. Secondary science,
mathematics and/or technology experience is desired.
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, tenure-track appointment
beginning August 2008.
SALARY: Salary for this nine-month academic position
is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Summer teaching
may be available. The College offers an excellent benefits package.
