ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
POSITION TITLE: Instructor of Manufacturing
Technology - Welding (non-tenure position)
RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for teaching
post-secondary and secondary welding curriculum. Duties include
teaching courses in a manufacturing cluster, as well as curriculum
development, working with student organizations, scheduling, lab
and equipment maintenance, ordering of supplies and equipment, assisting
in student advising, recruitment and placement, and other duties
as assigned.
The applicant should have a strong interest in laboratory-based
teaching, be committed to highest quality teaching, responsive to
changing industry expectations, and support our strong community
relations. Finalists may be required to demonstrate skills.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Must possess an
AAS in related field, as well as a minimum of five years journeyman
level experience within the past 10 years in the welding industry.
An in-depth understanding and skill in welding and cutting processes,
metallurgy, fabrication and layout, welding design, pipe welding,
welding structural theory, and the repair and maintenance of equipment
is a must. Basic computer skills, and strong communication and mathematical
skills required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A broad-based understanding
of manufacturing which includes manufacturing processes, general
shop and management practices desired. Industry certifications in
multiple processes a plus.
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, non-tenure185-day
appointment, to start August 12, 2008.
SALARY: Salary commensurate with education
