Registration Information
(Credit Courses)

By registering for classes, you are responsible for payment of tuition and fees. For a more detailed list of regulations and deadlines, read pages 2-25 in the Fall Course Listing (PDF) or pick up a Fall Course Schedule at the Registrar's Office.

Who is eligible to register?
To register, you must have attended classes during the spring semester, summer semester or have completed the application process and received notification of acceptance.

Who do I contact to register for classes?

  • New students must register through the Advising and Career Center. Once accepted, please call 970-248-1177 to schedule an appointment.
  • Returning and Continuing students may register online or in person at the Registrar's Office, Montrose Office, or Student Services at Western Colorado Community College.
  • Transfer students may register online or in person. Contact the Transfer Center at 970-248-1232 or the Transfer Evaluator in the Registrar's Office if assistance is needed with the transfer of credit.

How do I know which classes to take?
Community members wishing to take a course for personal development should verify that the course is appropriate to their educational background.
Guest students should verify with their home school that the course will transfer back as planned.
Degree seeking students at Mesa State College are strongly encouraged to meet with their Faculty Advisor to help determine which courses will be needed for graduation. Advisors can help answer questions about degree requirements and often suggest electives based on career goals. Students who are unsure of their major or career are encouraged to make an appointment with the Advising & Career Center at (970) 248-1177.

How do I register online?

  • Log in to Maverick Online
  • Enter your student ID number and password. If it is your first time logging on, this information can be found in your acceptance letter.
  • Go to "Student Services & Financial Aid", "Registration", then "Add/Drop Classes"
  • Enter the course numbers for the classes you want

If you encounter registration holds or errors, follow the instructions or contact the Registrar's Office for more information.

When can I register for classes?
Current and Returning Students - Registration begins April 3rd
New and Transfer Students - Registration begins April 17th
Non-Degree seeking Students - Registration begins August 14th

Registration through Maverick Online is available through August 25th as long as the class is open, doesn't require instructor permission, and you meet the pre-requisites. Since classes start on August 21st, you would be responsible for learning the materials missed if you register on/after that date. If you have trouble registering for any class, please contact the Regsitrar's Office, Montrose Office, or Student Services at Western Colorado Community College. Keep in mind that it is best to register for your classes as soon as possible; classes with low enrollment may be cancelled.

What if a class is full?
Registration for a class is done on a first come, first serve basis. Once a class is full, we encourage you to try again in case openings become available.

How do I drop a class?
This depends on how many classes you registered for, what part of the semester the class is offered, and when you are changing your schedule. Prior to the first day of classes, you may drop a class with a full refund either online or in person at one of the offices below. Once the semester has started, you must fill out the appropriate paperwork for your situation. This depends on how many days have passed and whether you are dropping all your classes. Look up the deadlines for add/drop/withdraw on page 18 in the Fall Course Listing (PDF). Please pay particular attention to the dates for the part of term that you are dropping. Feel free to call the Registrar's Office at (970) 248-1555 if you have any questions or concerns.
