Mesa State College is pleased to announce the naming of the Moss
Performing Arts Center. The new name honors the longtime support
Mesa State has received from John and Angie Moss.
John is the owner of the Taco Bell restaurants in Mesa County.
Through business ventures and personally the Mosses have been
strong supporters of Mesa State College for many years. Recent
support has ensured that the Moss Performing Arts Center will
be well equipped to serve the high quality theater and music programs
at Mesa State into the future.
The Moss Performing Arts Center houses the William S. Robinson
Theatre, the newly remodeled Walter Walker Reception Area, new
student practice rooms, a recital hall, and an experimental ("black
box") theater. A large community open house with a formal
dedication will be held next year.
"In 1925, the people of Grand Junction stepped up to support
the establishment of a college here," said President Dr.
Michael Gallagher. "Today, John and Angie Moss are showing
that the community still steps in when help is needed. For this,
we know of no better way to thank them than to name our latest
building in their honor. Students on our campus will always know
the Moss name and they will associate it with outstanding performances
and exceptional learning."
Mesa State College Foundation Executive Director Claudia Crowell
has only been at Mesa State for two months, but she sees the strength
of the College. "Everyone I meet on campus believes in Mesa
State," said Crowell, "but to see someone from the community
share that big vision is electrifying."
"Mesa State is poised for the next step," said John
Moss. "Angie and I hope that our support at this time will
encourage others to step forward and help where they can."
