Johnson Art Gallery to Exhibit "Woven Inspirations"
Grand Junction, CO - Mesa State College's Johnson Art Gallery
will feature "Woven Inspirations," an exhibit of basketry
and fiber art by Indiana artist Mary Hettmansperger, from September
13 through October 1. The show is the first in a series of three
exhibits by guest artists, each of whom was juried into the Gallery's
fall exhibit schedule after being selected from a field of international
applicants.
Hettmansperger is a fiber artist focusing on basketry and beadwork.
She has taught at Convergence, a national fiber conference, in addition
to other guilds and private workshops for 20 years. Hettmansperger's
artwork has been featured on the cover of Bead Work magazine and
she was the keynote speaker at the 2002 Association of Michigan
basket makers. Her beautiful and intricate creations have also been
exhibited in Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin and now in Grand
Junction.
A public reception for the "Woven Inspirations" exhibit
will be held on September 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Johnson
Gallery, which is located in the W.W. Campbell College Center on
the Mesa State main campus. The Gallery is open Monday through Friday,
9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is free. For more information, contact
