Johnson Art Gallery to Exhibit "Woven Inspirations"

Grand Junction, CO
- Mesa State College's Johnson Art Gallery will feature "Woven Inspirations," an exhibit of basketry and fiber art by Indiana artist Mary Hettmansperger, from September 13 through October 1. The show is the first in a series of three exhibits by guest artists, each of whom was juried into the Gallery's fall exhibit schedule after being selected from a field of international applicants.

Hettmansperger is a fiber artist focusing on basketry and beadwork. She has taught at Convergence, a national fiber conference, in addition to other guilds and private workshops for 20 years. Hettmansperger's artwork has been featured on the cover of Bead Work magazine and she was the keynote speaker at the 2002 Association of Michigan basket makers. Her beautiful and intricate creations have also been exhibited in Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin and now in Grand Junction.

A public reception for the "Woven Inspirations" exhibit will be held on September 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Johnson Gallery, which is located in the W.W. Campbell College Center on the Mesa State main campus. The Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is free.
