FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OCTOBER 1, 2004
Mountain Plains Management Association Fall Conference
Sessions Open to the Public
Grand Junction, CO -A series of business seminars, held as part
of the Mountain Plains Management Association's fall conference,
will be open to the public during Oct. 14-16 at Mesa State College.
"Each year the Mountain Plains Management Association joins
together to discuss contemporary issues in all areas of business,"
said Dr. Mary Zimmerer, professor of business. "Since Mesa
State College is serving as this year's host institution, we're
opening these informative conference sessions to local business
professionals."
Centered on the theme "Pedagogy for the New Millennium,"
the sessions will focus on the many aspects of business, including
management, marketing, finance, economics, accounting and computer
information systems. In addition to research paper presentations,
the sessions will be conducted in panel, roundtable discussion and
workshop formats. Presenters and facilitators will include professors
and students from 45 colleges and universities across the United
States. "Best Student Paper" award winner Katrina McLeod,
a business administration graduate student at Mesa State College,
will present her paper "Should Governments Be Allowed to Tax
Electronic Commerce Transactions?" on Oct. 16 during a noon
luncheon in the W.W. Campbell College Center's Liff Auditorium.
"This conference represents a unique opportunity to the Grand
Valley business community and one that we encourage community members
to take advantage of," said Zimmerer. "It's not often
that so many business educators, leaders and students gather together
in our region to discuss successful business strategies and to learn
from one another."
The sessions are free and pre-registration for local attendees
is not required. For more information on the Mountain Plains Management
Association's fall conference, visit www.mesastate.edu/mountainplains/index.htm
