Private Lands: Conservation and Protection

As a continuation of the "Natural Resources of the West"
seminar series, Steve Acquafresca will present "Private Lands:
Conservation and Protection" on Monday, October 4 in the Saccomanno
Lecture Hall of Mesa State College's Science Building. Acquafresca
is a land protection specialist with the Mesa Land Trust, a non-profit
organization dedicated to protecting agricultural lands, wildlife
habitat and open space in and around Mesa County.
This seminar series, which began in September and continues through
November, is examining issues surrounding the preservation, conservation
and restoration of natural resources in Colorado and the western
United States. Upcoming guest speakers and topics include:

Morales, Bureau of Land Management, David Price, Colorado National
Monument, and Al Pfister, US Fish and Wildlife Service
"Water Growth in Colorado" - Peter Nichols, Trout, Witwer
& Freeman P.C.
"Stream Restoration: North Fork of the Gunnison River"
- Jeff Crane
"Growing a Sense of Place: Organic Farming and Sustainable
Marketing" - Thomas Cameron, Rancho Durazno
In addition, special guest Anna Lappé, co-author of "Hope's
Edge: The Next Diet for a Small Planet," will present "What's
Food Got to Do With It? Straight Talk on the Impact of our Agricultural
System on the Economy and Environment" on Wednesday, October
13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Saccomanno Lecture Hall.
