Mesa State College's January Term Begins Today
Grand Junction, CO - More than 390 students and community members
are participating in Mesa State College's inaugural January Term,
an intensive two-week course session that began today and will continue
through Jan. 14.
"With 25 different courses, January Term has options for our
current students looking to advance the completion of their degrees,
as well as community members who are interested in sampling the
unique talents of the Mesa State faculty," said Heather Exby,
Mesa State College's Director of Regional Programs. "January
Term courses have been most popular with Mesa State's current students
who are taking advantage of this short term to earn credits toward
graduation and see January Term as time well spent."
Designed specifically for the shorter term, the course offerings
include "The Politics of Dr. Seuss," "Mythology,"
and an "Introduction to Gene Cloning," as well as various
other topics in science, art and culture, health care, business
and computing and personal wellness. The courses vary from one to
three hours of college credit.
"January Term represents Mesa State's commitment to being
a good steward of people's time and of fully utilizing the college's
available resources," said Tim Foster, president of Mesa State
College. "The response we received for this new term has been
very positive and indicates that this is the type of innovative
educational approach that the people of western Colorado are looking
for."
The January Term is being facilitated through the Mesa State College
Office of Extended Studies. For more information, contact Heather
