The Music at Mesa Guest Artist Recital Series
Presents Percussionist Mark Ford
Grand Junction, CO - Music at Mesa will present a special Guest
Artist Recital Series performance featuring Mark Ford on Sunday,
Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. in the Moss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.
Ford, a marimba specialist, is the coordinator of percussion activities
and music director at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas,
which has one of the largest percussion programs in the United States.
He is the immediate past-president of the Percussive Arts Society.
This percussionist has premiered a variety of new works for solo
marimba and he has been a featured performer/clinician at universities
and music conferences throughout the United States. He has also
performed at international music festivals in South America, Asia,
Australia and Europe.
His concert will include several original pieces such as "Ransom,"
"Motion Beyond" and "Stubernic," which will
feature Mesa State's director of jazz studies and percussion Darin
Kamstra and student Isaac Lavadie.
There will be a master class with Ford, on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 1:30
p.m. in the Moss Performing Art Center Recital. The class will be
free and open to the public and door prizes will be given to those
who participate.
Individual tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for
students and are available in advance or at the door. The box office
opens 45 minutes before each performance and all seating is general
