Johnson Art Gallery Presents "Canvas to Clay" Senior Art Show

Grand Junction, CO - "Canvas to Clay," the second senior student art show of the spring semester, will open Feb. 14 in the Johnson Art Gallery, located in Mesa State's W. W. Campbell College Center. This exhibit will feature paintings and pottery by art students Melissa Herald, Jeremy Miller and Maureen McCarthy.

Herald specializes in functional pottery and her exhibit will include pieces that are as beautiful as they are useful. Miller's works include large surrealistic paintings, as well as pottery dining sets that are precisely thrown with high-fired ovenproof glazes. To round out the trio, McCarthy's paintings include landscapes, which are both real and imagined.

A reception for the "Canvas to Clay" exhibit will be held Feb. 18 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Johnson Art Gallery. This is an opportunity for the public to meet the student artists and view their exhibits.

The Johnson Art Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is free. For more information, contact the Mesa State Art Department at 970.248.1833.
