User Name & Password at Mesa State College
Students of Mesa State College have a network/computer account
used to access MavZone and other resources at Mesa State College.
A user name and password is needed to access this account.
- Your user name is:
- In the form of the first initial from your first name,
followed by the first seven letters of your last name.
If your last name has fewer than seven characters, just
enter all the characters of your last name.
- For example, Lady Maverick would be "lmaveric".
- However, there are some conflicts with students who
have similar names, like John and Jane Smith. Since
no two students may have the same user name, so some
students may have their middle initial or other characters
as part of their user name.
- To look up you user name,
- Go to the Campus
Directory.
- Enter you last name.
- Click the Search Button. And
- Observe the text in front of the @ symbol in your
email address. This text is your user name.
- Your password is:
- Initially, your password is your date of birth in
six digit format, meaning month day and year with no
dashes or slashes. Do not include the “19” in the year.
- For example, Lady Maverick is born on March 9, 1982.
Her initial password is 030982.
- If you are prompted to change your password, please
do so.
- Your Password Expires:
- Because your date of birth is a weak password, it
must be changed. Follow the instructions below to change
it.
- Passwords expire annually. This means they stop working
unless changed. If your password stops working, it may
be expired and needed to be changed. However it will
still log you into your Mesa State email account. Follow
the instructions bellow to change it.
Changing your password:
- Log into your Mesa State
College email account.
- Or log into MavZone and go to the Home Tab.
- Click the

It is located in a group of three buttons located
- In the "Change your password" section,
type in your old password and type in a new password
that you wish to use. You will have to retype your new
password.
- Click
located at the bottom of the screen. You may have to
scroll down.
- The new password is the password that you use to
log onto
- MavZone
- computers on campus, and
- The page used to register computers in the dormitories.
