The first thing to do when your
dial-up connection is not working is to verify that
your password works in one of the computer labs on
campus. If not, go to the computer lab in the Tomlinson
Library to have it re-set. Bring a photo i.d. from
7:30 AM until 4:30 PM.

Quick
Dial-Up Setup Process for Windows 98 and Windows ME PCs
- Click My Computer > Control Panel > Dial-Up
Network > Make a New Connection > Next
> Telephone number you are dialing into is 241-2209
or 255-0740.
- Double-click on the new icon in the Dial-Up networking
Window labeled "My Connection" then use your Novell login
name and password when prompted. You should get a "Verifying
Username and Password" message after dialing in. You should
now be able to use your web browser to surf the Internet.
If it works, you're done!
If you intend to use the connection often, do not forget to
go to file and save, or save as, in order to forgo entering
the phone number each time.
Connecting
your computer to the Internet using Windows XP
- Click Start > My Computer > My
Network Places. (My Network Places is located under
Other Places in the left toolbar.)
- On the left toolbar single click on View Network Connections.
- One the left toolbar single click on “Create a new
connection”
- Then click on the following: connect to the Internet>
setup my connection manually > connect using a
dial up modem and click Next.
- For ISP name enter Mesa State and click Next.
- For the phone number, enter: 241-2209, or 255-0740.
- For username and password use your Novell account information.
- Add shortcut to the desktop using the check box and then
click finish.
- Make sure that your modem is connected and plugged in.
Then double-click on the new icon. You should hear interesting
sounds coming from the computer. Once you are connected,
open Internet Explorer and enjoy.
