Wireless Network at Mesa State College
First Time Configuration & Registration
Mesa State College has a wireless network with signal on
the 2nd and 3rd floors in the Tomlinson Library. Here is how
to configure your Windows XP laptop to the wireless network;
- Click on the
(wireless network connection) icon located in he system
tray in the lower right hand corner of the screen.
- Click the
button.
- Double click

- Once the connection is established, open Internet Explorer.
The Mesa State College WLAN page will come up.
- If you are comfortable with the instructions on this web
page, follow them and skip to "Connecting to the Wireless
Network below.
- Click the
( Download and install this VPN client) link.
- Click the
button. The "Internet Explorer - Security Warning"
window will appear.
- Click the
button again. The "Open VPN Setup" window will
appear.
- Click the
button.
- Click the
button.
- Click the
button. Messages will scroll by.
- Click the
button.
More messages will scroll by.
- Click the
Next
button.
- Click to remove the check mark in the box located in front
of "Show Readme".
- Click the
button. At this point, the icon
will appear in the system tray located in the lower right
hand corner of the screen. If so, the computer is ready
to connect to the wireless network.
Connecting to the Wireless Network
- Double click the
icon
located near the bottom right corner of the screen.
- In the "User Authentication" window shown below,
enter your network user name and
password. This is the same user name and password used
for logging into computers and campus email Then click the
OK button.

- You will then see the
balloon near the bottom of your screen. This means that
you are logged in and life is good.
Trouble?
If the process seems to freeze, or hang, after you log in,
make sure that you have any fire walls turned off. Customers
running Symantic or Norton will be unable to connect until
turning off the fire wall
