What is the K Drive and L Drive?

K Drive and the L Drive is space on the Mesa State College servers for students and professors to share files. Here professors can save blank assignments, and students can submit completed assignments, projects, and papers.

Instructions (off campus and in the dormitories)

  • Connect to the Internet.
  • Open Internet Explorer (or your browser of choice).
  • Go to www.mesastate.edu.
  • Point to Current Students.
  • Click "Student Login" in the drop down menu.
  • Click the link.
  • Log in using your network (Novell) user name and password.
  • In the "Security Alert" window, click the "yes" button.
  • You should then see a screen with a left pane and a right pane. If so, you have loaded the NetStorage window and are ready to upload and download files.

Posting (Uploading) to the K or L Drive

Uploading means that a file is being transferred from your computer to a server. Here are the steps,

  • With the NetStorage window open (see "Instructions" above), locate a folder that looks like this,Drive K @ Courses. It is in the left hand pane. Click on it once. (The folder will say "Drive L" for the L Drive.)
  • Click File / Upload in the NetStorage window as shown below.
  • In the window that appears, click the browse button and locate the file you wish to transfer from your computer to the K Drive.
  • Click on the uploadbutton. The file will be uploaded. The amount of time required depends on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file. At this point, you have handed in the project.
